Jackarouu Amp

This amp was modified from a Calrad 15 watt Model AR-15 which was a 4 tube hi-fi amp based on the 6BM8/ECL82 tubes. I rewired this amp for guitar.

Why didn't Fender use the 6BM8 escapes me because in push-pull the tube is very loud. The tube comes with it's own built in driver tube.

I traced the design out, made a schematic of the original and then modified it for my purpose.

The speaker is simply a computer sub-woofer cabinet that was found in the trash. This is great for playing in a small room, however the amp sounds better through 12 inch Celestions.

Hand drawn schematic of the redesigned amplifier (I forgot the B+ to the output transformer primary center tap). Notice the simplicity with only one 12AT7 preamp tube, the rectifier tube, and the two 6BM8 driver/output tubes in push/pull configuration. A 12AX7 can be used in place of the 12AT7 for more gain. This amp is run in Triode mode.
